Dear reader,<\/p>\n

Clinical research has me now for over 30 years and although this business is often described as one of the slower and less innovative areas, I would strongly argue the opposite!<\/p>\n

With an innovation share of 9 and 7 % respectively, the pharmaceutical and medical device industry rather show a strong innovative power according to the Thomson Reuters State of Innovation Report 2015<\/span>1<\/sup><\/a><\/span>. I am confident that this tendency will not change, and follow upcoming innovations with excitement.<\/p>\n<\/div>

<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>

A survey by the EUROFORUM Deutschland SE<\/span>2<\/sup><\/a><\/span> entitled \u201cFuture of Healthcare\u201d reports that 59 % of the respondents in the pharmaceutical industry agree that competitors of pharmaceutical companies will be from outside the business in the future. In order to be able to improve medical care, to maintain progress in medical research and to guarantee for continuous innovation, participants confirm the necessity of collaborations and partnerships between organizations within (86 %) but also with players outside the healthcare sector (90 %). Big data, personalized medicine, mobile health and digitalization are just some of the key developments which have the potential to change the healthcare business in its entirety.<\/p>\n

However, big challenges go hand in hand with huge opportunities for innovations, medical advances and new business strategies. To me, this is a very exciting outlook for the pharmaceutical and medical devices sector which makes me even more passionate about my work in clinical research.<\/p>\n

The clinical research community brings together people from different fields of expertise. We all share common needs, interests, requests and aims, and in particular the one common goal to succeed in bringing forward new medical developments and treatments to improve the health and well-being of the patient.<\/p>\n

By providing an information channel which discusses new findings in medical research, introduces innovative methods and developments in the healthcare sector, and shares helpful tools and experiences from the daily business in clinical research, I would like to support the interaction between all of us who represent this community! Therefore, I am happy to welcome you to the communication platform of GKM and cordially invite you to join the exchange! I am looking forward to a fruitful discussion and hope you enjoy reading!<\/p>\n
