GKM reads aloud! We take part in the initiative “My dad reads aloud”

The German Reading Foundation has initiated a program throughout Germany that aims to encourage parents to read out more to their children (e.g. bed time stories)¹. Reading is fundamental to human development, it ignites children’s’ imagination, it opens the view on a different world and different cultures and is the essential key to education. Especially fathers only rarely read out to their children (47% in Germany). As a role model, particularly for their sons, they miss out on the chance of motivating their children to read and therefore risk their children learning one of the most important basic skills – reading – only at a rudimentary level.

We at GKM strongly believe in the educational and developmental power of reading and are happy to support this initiative. We thank the German Reading Foundation for the initiation of this program and for providing the excellent reading material to our organization! Happy reading!
